The almost 8 months away, returning post

Wow, it’s been long isn’t it? I can’t believe how long ago since I last posted here. So what brought me back? While if you read my blog regularly, should know that I have a love-hate relationship with Nokia. Really.
The Nokia is launching its all new smart phone with a brand new OS. That’s right I am talking about the Nokia N9 and its brand new never seen before OS called Meego (pardon the ridiculous name). I am quite (ok ok, very) excited about the N9…

Why am I excited?
Simply because it’s a brand new OS! The new OS itself makes me really wanna try it out and see for myself. The OS have been called as the simplest, most intuitive and at same time, shows all important information on home screen. Think iOS + Android! More on home screens later.
Design, design, design
The hardware, look at this sexy little beast, the outward curved screen (I called it the fish belly screen), Uni-body with polycarbonate materialCarl Zeiss optics, NFC tech, too many to drool at. Most importantly, there is no buttons at the face of this phone. No, you don’t need one, everything is operated from the swipe UI. When you see and hold one in your hand, your mind screams “Sexy!” No more brick look-a-like design like many of the smart phone out there.
The (3) Home Screens
Speaking of which, this machine features 3 different home screens and, nothing else. Not home screen in traditional sense, it unlike what is in the market now. No app drawer, no hierarchy of folders, no nonsense. The concept is simple.
The main screen is the place where all you apps, tools and games are at, think of it as the apps drawer. The more you install, the longer the page will be, simply swipe up and down to scroll through.
Swipe to the left and you get to the notification screen. This is where you find notifications you need, facebook, missed calls, SMSes, messengers, emails, tweets, weather and much more. It’s like the widgets screen which holds all apps’ widget over here.
Swipe left again, you will reach the 3rd and final screen, where Meego OS is king, the multi-tasking screen. Here you get to look at which apps are running in the background. Your facebook, browser, music and video player, games, all will be shown here. It also let you control the apps by closing those which you don’t need.
Nothing else?
That’s it, nothing else. Think about it, these 3 home screens took care of everything you need to do with your smart phone. Meego has the simplicity, if not simpler, of iOS yet at the same time provides the goodness of Android in terms of widgets and multi-tasking.
Final words
Yup, this is a rather short preview. Not that much details really but hey, I have not seen a real working set yet. I will have my chance this coming Thursday, hopefully I can get my hands on one of it.
